Bookbinding workshops
Celandine Books regular workshops are held at MAKE Southwest in Bovey Tracy, the Devon and Exeter Institution in Exeter, the Burton at Bideford and Studio Kind in Barnstaple. You will also occassionally find me at book festivals in Devon, Cornwall and Somerset.
About the workshops
Traditional and contemporary book forms are taught, and each one day workshop focuses on one or two book structures. The workshops are suitable for beginners and for those who would like to learn a new structure in a friendly and supportive group, with all the tools and materials supplied.
You will learn traditional bookbinding techniques using specialist tools and materials, with lots of expert tips shared along the way, and take away your own handmade books plus the skills to make more at home.

Bespoke workshops for groups
I'm happy to travel to your own venue to provide a workshop for your group. I work with artists, designers and photographers, as well as groups including the Society of Botanical Artists, the NHS Art for Life programme, the charity Headway, and companies such as Corston Architectural Detail.
With many years of experience as a visiting and associate lecturer, teaching bookbinding to art and design students at colleges and universities, I welcome invitations to teach in all settings.
Get in touch for information and details of prices if you would like to book a workshop.
Studio workshops
One day workshops for 1 or 2 people take place in my well-equipped studio near the Devon and Somerset border.
You can plan your day by choosing from the workshop book structures I have developed. More advanced techniques can also be taught, as you will have lots of attention from me as well as the use of a professional bookbinding studio.
